Mentorship: A Key to Your Success
One of the most unique aspects of our training program is the mentorship system. Every new agent is paired with an experienced mentor—an active FHG agent who has worked in the field and understands the intricacies of the job. These mentors are not just instructors—they are invested in your success. They only earn when you earn, so they’re fully dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
Your mentor will be your daily point of contact, offering ongoing support and guidance throughout your career. They will ensure you feel confident and capable as you learn the ropes, and you’ll never feel alone in your journey. Their goal is your financial success, and they will be by your side every step of the way.
A Hands-On, Real-World Training Experience
Our training program is not just about classroom lessons or virtual modules—it’s about real, live, hands-on experience. After the initial setup and introductions, your training will begin with two consecutive days of field training.
On Day One, you’ll meet with your mentor to review the basics: how to navigate our quoting and application tools, manage leads, and understand the product presentation process. You’ll learn how to handle the field underwriting process, develop price quotes, and complete applications. Once you have the foundational knowledge, it’s time to go into the field!
During your first day of fieldwork, you’ll shadow your mentor, observing them as they set appointments, conduct presentations, and close sales. This “live and unscripted” experience is something that’s unavailable with most local agencies, where training tends to be limited to virtual or classroom formats. You’ll witness firsthand how a seasoned agent builds relationships, makes sales, and manages leads—all while asking questions and getting immediate feedback. This kind of learning is invaluable and is a crucial part of your early development.
Independent Practice with Expert Guidance
On Day Two, the roles reverse. Your mentor will shadow you as you conduct the same process of setting appointments, making presentations, and completing sales. As you take on more responsibility, your mentor will be there to guide you—providing advice, answering questions, and offering instruction to ensure you’re developing the skills you need to work independently.
It’s important to note that two days of training will never be enough to master all the skills required to be a top-performing Final Expense Agent. However, the initial two-day field training is just the beginning of a long-term learning process.
Ongoing Support for Continued Growth
Once your initial training is complete, you will continue to have access to your mentor for ongoing coaching and support. Your mentor will be available to answer questions, help with more complex issues, and provide guidance as you grow in your career. Whether you need a refresher or further fine-tuning, additional training days can be scheduled with your mentor at any time.

In addition to your mentor, our local office staff and national headquarters team provide additional resources and assistance to help you succeed.
